What is spoken through your actions?

Not those large enough that scream to be seen, but those small enough to go unnoticed until they too demand your attention.

Slipping through the cracks of others while you try to heal your own.

What do you do that is true to you?

What do you take pride in?

What are you chasing?

Or have you lost your way.

Have you ever changed direction?

Have you ever even considered it?

You looked up to those who pave their own roads, yet lay down the same bricks for yours.

You depend on the independent, not realizing they’re revered for nothing but their solitude.

How will you make peace with yourself when you find you’ve been left alone and they no longer hear your silent cries?

Frantically turning to others only to spin out in endless circles.

How do you perceive the unknown?

Will you choose to run into it with no abandon?

Or will you cower in fear, having forgotten the greatest strength we possess?

What fuels you when you wake and find the blinding sun has never been dimmer?

When you find the sun is within but so is the cause of the shade.

When every day seems endless but months flash by too quick.

Twenty-four hours. What do you fill them with?

Why do you choose to live?

Day after day, you rise,

but to your own demise.

Still unable to answer why.

You count the stale crumbs they break your back for.

They never mentioned there was a limit to the light you can buy,

for it does not feed on the distractions we have constructed.

Day by day, you rise.

Twenty-four hours.

Who do you choose to live for?

I do not need a map.

For why walk somewhere footprints have already trampled nature.

Don’t you dare take away my choice.

For I would never think to take yours.

Don’t you dare take away my ideas.

For I would never assume my understanding of those still foreign to me.

Don’t you dare listen to me speak if your mind wishes to remain stagnant.

For you should first tackle why you’ve chosen to stay in place.

Don’t you dare trivialize when you’re unaware of the story.

Would you say that I understand yours?

Don’t you dare adopt my values through no reason of your own.

Don’t you dare say that you hear me.

Don’t you dare pretend that you see me.

You see only what you are shown,

and you understand nothing other than what you already knew.

Why take a road that has already been infringed upon by those desperately scrounging for novelty?

Don’t you dare follow the sun if you cannot land amongst the stars.
